Wendts death was confirmed by his publicist Melissa Nathan with the following statement: George was a doting family man, a well-loved friend and confidant to all of those lucky enough to have known him. He will be missed forever. The family has requested privacy during this time

(72,528 posts)I got to meet him at the stage door afterwards (along with Richard Thomas, who had played the lead). He looked mostly dead even then. He definitely didn't look healthy.
Sorry to hear this. He delivered my all-time favorite line in "Cheers".

"What's going on, Mr. Peterson?"
"Let's talk about what's going IN Mr. Peterson..."

Its a great line made perfect by George Wendts delivery.
