Walmart may be wading through dangerous waters with Donald Trumps administration after announcing that the presidents tariffs would likely lead to price increases for consumers.
During CNBCs Squawk Box Monday, co-host Andrew Ross Sorkin asked Tennessee Senator Bill Hagerty about the presidents recent outrage at Walmart. The mega retail chains CFO warned last week that consumers might start to see higher prices on products as soon as June.
In the short term, if Walmart decides that they have to raise prices, do you think that thats un-American, effectively? Sorkin asked.
I think Walmarts gonna have to make some decisions; Walmart has the broadest base of American clients there is. I think theyre gonna be very careful about how they do this. I know that theyve received some criticism from the president. I think they need to think hard, Hagerty replied.

(972 posts)They were found guilty of fraud. Someone should see if Pilot travelcenters increase their prices. All the merchandise is from China.

(2,165 posts)that owned Pilot Flying J during the scandal that you referenced and they subsequently sold the business to Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway. I believe that the scumbag Haslam mob netted around $11 billion from the sale and have used a portion of the windfall to fund right wing campaigns.
I confused the two. I actually did a project for Pilot where I hooked up a system for their corporate cards for truckers across the country. I used to go to corporate in Knoxville all the time.

(9,314 posts)No, that's the way capitalism works. Walmart is in it for the profit, just like every other retail business.
Trump is just trying to redirect the blame from him for initiating the tariff.
If he doesn't want Walmart to raise prices, they he shouldn't have levied the tariff that result in their costs going up.
