Its a money-saving move thats sure to divide holidaymakers but several budget airlines will reportedly introduce standing-only seating options next year.
According to reports, including @entrepreneurshipquote on Instagram, the bike-style padded seats which allow passengers to lean at an angle without completely sitting down have now met regulation requirements and passed safety assessments.
These seats will increase passenger capacity by 20 per cent and will apparently come into service in 2026 on flights up to two hours long.
The upright seating is called Skyrider 2.0 and was unveiled by manufacturer Aviointeriors at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2018 in Hamburg.

Of course one of the proponents is Ryanair. Those images from the 50's of luxury travel in jets are long gone. Now, we're just cattle.

(3,220 posts)...times, the airlines and regulators already had to increase the average passenger weight used to make takeoff calculations. That happened, of course, due to the trend of increasingly zaftig Americans over the years.
