up by Medicare increases.
For 2009 and 2010, the SSI had no Cost of Living increase.
In 2011, the COLA was 3.6% and for 2012, the COLA was 1.7%.
Just thought I would put that out there.
COSI is a museum in Columbus and the name of a Bus line. Sorry about that confusion. It should have been COLA.

(23,720 posts)when I was getting survivors benefits there was an annual increase. It was between 35 and 50 a month per year. When the President too office the annual increases were frozen.

(45,558 posts)They were tied to Consumer Price Index and for 2009 and 2010, there was no increase.
At that same time, however, the money taken out to pay Medicare Premium usually disguise any changes in your SS check.
Last year the COLA was 3.6% and this year it is 1.7%.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
