"Nearly half of Utah's foreign tourism comes from this country, and they're not coming this year"

Lol, eh?

For more than a third of her life, Tina Hunt has made a tradition of visiting the Southwest for her birthday. When the 59-year-old started daydreaming about this year’s 10-day trip last fall, she felt called to return to St. George, where she and her husband enjoy mountain biking, hiking and sightseeing.
Yet when the Vancouver, Canada, residents boarded the plane in April, it was bound for Costa Rica. And at no point would they touch down on United States soil. Hunt made sure of that.
“Just with the things going on, we thought, ‘Nope,’” Hunt said. “We’re just part of those Canadians who are ‘Nope. Not until things change.’”

International tourists spent ~$155 billion last year. And tourism us ~$2.5 trillion. Even a 20% cut in that will really hit as tourism is labor intensive.

The only thing that matters to a lot of voters is the money in their bank accounts. They have to learn the hard way, I guess.

I have to hope that if the EU appetite for Teslas has crashed, travel to the US may have as well.

along with "border" control.

Those two things alone would cause people to stay away.

Then add the fascism and the desire to annex other
countries, and that just multiplies it greatly.

but I get the point of why they are avoiding USA as a whole due to our idiotic administration's hostility to all foreigners. It's very disappointing for the communities who depend on tourist revenue.

US customs or immigration agents, I might wish the more tolerant and enlightened voters and officials of blue states well, but I’d still take my holiday in another country, not the USA.

Looking backward at President Joe’s administration, one of my beefs is that President Joe was too much of an institutionalist. He should have sent in a cadre of hard-eyed, bloody-minded inspectors and cut out the rot left behind by Trump One instead of leaving it there to surge anew.
