But, yeah - that's been used by Asatru/Odinists as a symbol for their "warrior class". I used to run in Historical Recreationist and modern Pagan circles back in the 80's and 90's, met a lot of people who called themselves Asatru - " People of the Asaer"
Many were cool and really got into the history - such as is available - but a good number of them were "Volkists" - racist gits who never read actual history and just want to play Conan the Barbarian or Grim Woo-Viking.

Note to all the Volkists out there - "Vikings" went everywhere and allowed anyone from anywhere be a free (non-slave) member of their company and crew -including Celts, Tuvans/Lapps, Slavs, Goths, Middle Easterners, and North Africans. And anyone could get into Valhalla if they died bravely in battle. Odin didn't care what you looked like or where you hailed from.
