...have helped -- or, in a best-case scenario, ultimately failed to (thank god) -- propel some very questionable characters into the national spotlight.

That brand of progressives needs to do a better job vetting the candidates they support.

To be a Democratic-leaning prominent member of the press these days has meant an increasingly tenuous hold on your job. These three have been fearlessly uncompromising in an environment that is quite able and increasingly willing to silence them.

He nevertheless has a credible chance to become that state’s next governor. He is THAT good at navigating the fine line one has to thread to win such an election. He’d be a brilliant governor, too.
