(23,710 posts)This could actually be interesting. Insulting and demeaning Trump gets you on his shitlist, but it doesn't necessarily keep you there. There are many, many people in his close orbit who have said really mean things about him -- his vice president, for example, who once compared Trump to Hitler.
I believe Trump gets a major kick out of being insulted by people, and then bringing those people to heel. It's one of his great joys in life, to see people who were formally opposed to him bending the knee and kissing the ring. Then he magnanimously "forgives" them, although obviously this forgiveness is dependent on them remaining in his pocket.
People who do not bend the knee, however, remain enemies forever -- for example, people like Gen. Kelly, or Gen. Milley. Or Joe Biden, whom Trump recently told people not to feel sorry for after Biden's cancer diagnosis was revealed.
So for me the question is, is this a real split, or just another game? It seems to me that Musk is one of the only people on the planet whose ego might compete with Trump's -- I think Musk believes he is more powerful, or should be more powerful, than the president of the United States. I'm sure that on a personal level Musk and Trump hate each other's guts, and any public love between them is just a means to an end for both of them.
If it is a real split, and Musk refuses to bow down and come "back into the fold," then it will be interesting to see how much damage this feud causes them.

(24,328 posts)1). Musk is a predator, a viper, just like Trump.
2). Musk saw a doddering old 78 year old rapist, felon, and career con man in a clear state of mental decline.
3). Musk saw how vulnerable Trump was to being played by Putin, Kim Jong Un and others with the simplest of flattery.
4). Musk saw that Trump had a built-in cult of tens of millions, and that they never questioned or challenged any lie he told
5). Musk knows that the majority of his wealth came from suckling at the government teat
6). Musk knew the only way to stop government agencies who wanted to investigate him was to hobble those agencies
7). Musk thought to himself and concluded "If I flatter this slob and help him win, I will own him"
8). Musk ignored that "Everything Trump Touches Dies" thing, saying "That's OTHER people, it would never happen to me"
9). Musk didn't think that Trump was setting him up for a fall with DOGE, that he'd be the scapegoat when the shit hit the fan
10). Trump got what he wanted out of Musk, and undoubtedly wants more, but if Musk doesn't shut up, he's gonna see government money go "POOF"
11). If Trump "fixes" the four things Musk doesn't like in the bill, Musk will once again be Trump's bouncing prancing drug abusing dipshit helper monkey
