5. The chief actually made several comments that they didn't ask for the Guard, the Feds and the Guard

have effectively made their jobs harder, they probably would have been able to handle this situation before the Guard showed up. He was very angry (IMO) that the impression was given that LAPD didn’t swoop in to rescue ICE at the detention center — ICE hadn’t let them know in advance, and then when they were called, the tear gas and other issues meant it took them longer to respond. The chief pointed out that the Guard was barely deployed, and he wasn’t clear if and how they would help. The sheriffs have also said that they were fine and hadn’t asked for the Guard or other help.

Not a huge fan of the LAPD or sheriffs, but I think they’re both angry they’ve been “invaded” by the Feds and the Guards.

State and federal forces are supposed to be invited by local police.

This is interesting to me because it's an example of how Trump is trampling on local rights. Republicans aren't supposed to like that.

I hope more local authorities start speaking up. This is not ok.
