Dictators need the military to rule, if the military obeys illegal orders and becomes a tool of the dictator then we are all in trouble, and blood will spill. This is not good people. The army should have refused to do the show on the 14th, its a slap on the citizens of the USA, it is a waste of money while cuts are being made to social benefits, its a tribute to a guy who didn't even serve. Treason seems to be the order of the day.

(530 posts)I was an Army Reserve member, the day after the Kent State shootings, there was a parade in LA. It was Armed Forces Day. I carried an M14 in the color guard next to the flag. My commander ordered me to mount my bayonet and respond to violence with a "short thrust". I refused, so did the guy on the other side. Nothing happened, it was fairly calm.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
