Trump Is Planning a Nationwide Crackdown Targeting Blue Cities

Trump Is Planning a Nationwide Crackdown Targeting Blue Cities - The New Republic

The Trump administration is readying tactical ICE units known as “special response teams” to conduct large raids in five Democratic cities, according to MSNBC. They will be in New York City, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia and northern Virginia. While it’s unclear when exactly the raids will start, all ICE agents in those areas have been told to stand by.

This is going to be a mess. Trump’s crackdown in Los Angeles—with thousands of National Guardsmen and hundreds of Marines patrolling the streets—is the model for his larger deportation campaign: Have ICE pour into a community and make indiscriminate arrests, then when civilians predictably resist, use that to justify sending even more militant forces in to quell the chaos that ICE induced. New York City is already on edge, as 80 protestors were arrested in Lower Manhattan Tuesday night at an anti-ICE protest.

“’Look, this isn’t just about protests here in Los Angeles, when Donald Trump sought blanket authority to commandeer the National Guard. He made that order apply to every state in this nation. This is about all of us. This is about you,” said Governor Gavin Newsom. “California may be first, but it clearly will not end here. Other states are next. Democracy is next. Democracy is under assault before our eyes, this moment we have feared has arrived.’”

And how does the mention of N. Virginia invalidate the story?

The New Republic happens to have a link to its referenced source, MSNBC, which in turn, brings up a video clip.

The story was also picked up by Yahoo News. Furthermore it's been reported that Trump had signed executive orders targeting so-called "sanctuary cities."

And then there's this report.

A sweeping new ICE operation shows how Trump's focus on immigration is reshaping federal law enforcement - NBC

So pardon me for failing to see how the mention of N. Virginia renders the sources, "regime(s) of stupidity."

broke yesterday on multiple sources. All list Northern Virginia as a city, so it's a quote from some unidentified person/source.

And they're the cities and regions that just happen to be pre-guilty of woke insurrection! It is an amazing coincidence.

that have unfolded in just the few hours following my initial post, Trump's (reported) plans, re. blue cities in particular, can hardly be called an "overreach."

Nor should it be a surprise, dismissals notwithstanding.

If they are going to be arresting the workers, wouldn't it make sense then to arrest the owners and/or the board of directors of these companies as well? For that matter, in a just world, the shareholders should be on the hook for a share of the fines, injuries and damages as wells as the cost of these operations. Perhaps receivership would be appropriate? Fair's fair.

Trump orders ICE officers to expand deportation efforts in Democratic cities - CNN

Donald Trump called for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to expand deportation efforts in Democratic cities and “do all in their power” to achieve mass deportations in a social media post Sunday.

“ICE Officers are herewith ordered, by notice of this TRUTH, to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History,” (he) posted on Truth Social as he traveled on Air Force One to Canada for the G7 summit.

(Trump) also directed ICE to “expand efforts” in “the Democrat Power Center” while claiming without evidence that his political opponents are using “Illegal Aliens” to “cheat in Elections, and grow the Welfare State.”
