I just dont see the rest of the world wanting anything to do with
an oppressive totalitarian government.
Yet in Nazi Germany, Hitler has his 1936 Olympics
So its possible the Trump Dictatorship can have World Cup.
Iâ¦.donât see how it can in the United States.

BlueSky post ..
How can the World Cup take place in the US next year? If you are foreign football fan, especially non-white fans from central and South America, Africa and Asia you risk being rounded up by ICE and sent without any due process to a prison in El Salvador. The US is now a fascist state and not safe
Plain harassment and making sure people will not travel to the US for the games.

Millions of fans from south- and central America will watch them on TV.
The PR stupidity is unbelievable.
Also thousands of football fans from Europe will stay home.

Its happening, there just wont be many fans from other countries attending. The economic benefit will be limited.

(10,433 posts)It's too late to move it and Mexico and Canada cannot handle it alone. While I agree it would be in the best interest of all involved with the World Cup to not have the US involved at this point, it is too late to make a change now. The 11 stadiums in the US where it is being held have a capacity ranging from 65,000 to 82,500. The next largest 11 stadiums in Canada and Mexico not already being used have capacity of
58,500
56,000
56,000
47,000
46,000
42,000
41,000
39,000
35,000
35,000
34,000
At most, only 7 of these were submitted as part of the initial bid for the World Cup and several of those were eliminated by FIFA.
Even if you assumed that all of these stadiums were available to use AND willing to host games (which is almost certainly not true), you are depending on the cities being able to handle the influx of visitors, not to mention that there are not enough stadiums to meet FIFAs standards to begin with. Add in that many tickets have likely already been sold, they would be forfeiting a ton of potential revenue.
It would be nice if they could do it, but there is absolutely NO WAY that Canada and Mexico or any other country could handle the World Cup with it just a year away.
