I was pleasantly surprised by seeing there were No Kings rallies

in small towns in northern Michigan. Granted, there were not huge crowds, but even a few dozen protesters were more than I ever expected. Upstaters generally consistently vote for Republicans because they think Democrats are "going to come for our guns," although they never have before. Jimmy Carter never came for their guns; Bill Clinton never came for their guns; Barack Obama never came for their guns; Joe Biden never came for their guns, but the next one is surely going to.

I never thought they would ever get anyone to protest a Republican president, but apparently DJT is a step too far, even for some of them!

3. North Dakota had protests in 10 towns

apparently. Of course they were small, but so is the population of the state. My mom was at one in a town of about 15,000 people and there were 180 protesters.

Thanks to social media we can find our people.

From Cheboygan - where we are splitting our people between Petoskey, Roger’s City and Gaylord.

I think the next one we are going to be strong enough to do a rally in our own town.

6. People all over the US are VERY ANGRY!!!

The number of protests and protesters has been increasing a lot since the immigration/deportation issue came to a head 10 days ago. They definitely were the largest group at the protest in San Diego.

Also, many senior citizens who are usual GOP constituents are getting pissed off now since this is negatively hitting them and their own, every day lives. They did not give a shit about issues like gun violence, abortion rights, climate change, etc but now they are angered that their healthcare and social security will be taken away or lessened and this will harm them. Even The Villages in FL is getting more "anti-tRump". I do not have respect for their selfish attitudes.

7. I agree. That's how Republicans have ALWAYS been.

They don't care about anything unless it directly affects them or someone they care about. I'm not saying it's right (because it isn't) but that's how it is with them.

Whenever my mother would bring up a particular issue, my aunt (her sister-in-law) would say to her "How is that any of your business? Why do you care?" I told my mother she should answer with "Why do you not?"

And by the way, my aunt is a former nun who's never missed Mass a day in her life. I've always wondered, with her religious background, why it is she has so little compassion for other people. But I digress.

8. I understand.....

I am an atheist and have been since I was in high school. I despise hypocrisy and the area where I grew up had many Catholics. I was a Catholic until I was given a choice when I was 10 and I said "no God for me". My family has always been anti "organized religion" so I had choices. My childhood friends were mean to me because of it but screw them. I still speak with one of them on her birthday and she is STILL a religious hypocrite and she even told me so. Leopards and spots, I guess. Now, none of my friends are religious, especially the ones who were raised within the Catholic Church while young, like me.

I was looking at my "I told you so" posts about my estimates regarding the NO KINGS PROTEST. On May 30th, after a local restaurant was raided by ICE on a Fri evening 2 1/2 weeks ago things got very heated, very quickly. I posted that there would be over 1,400 protests and at least 5.2 million marchers (that was how many were at the April 5th Hands Off Protests) since it was obvious that this would bring more people out to protest on June 14th and they did! 60,000 marched in San Diego!!! I was in the very front.
