and now, their intent to prevent a future one, while playing Trump like a fiddle... Netanyahu may well not be satisfied until he drags the US into major escalating ME conflict and potential WWIII. And if you think Putin is not aiding Netanyahu in this, well, take a look at the Russian oil prices rocketing, not to mention Russia's other beneficial gains.

One of the things that demagogues inevitably do is start believing their own press. Netanyahu has been spoiling for a fight with the Iranians for a while now because the only thing keeping him in office is the support of the ultra-orthodox jews (the Israeli MIGA, rather than MAGA, faction if you will). The Iranians were hit by an all out assault on their leadership as well as their energy infrastructure, and I suspect that they are about to respond in kind to Netanyahu and his cronies.

The Iranians have been waging covert war against Israel for years, but it has been far from one-sided. Biden kept that powder keg from going off, even at the cost of losing the election because of it, but Trump has neither the expertise (having fired everyone in the State Department) nor the leverage to do anything about it at this point. At this point, there's no governor, no backroom peace process there, Trump's hiding in Mar-a-lago, and we're watching the hot phase of World War III in real time at this point.

All I can say is that Trump better be DAMN sure that the security in MAL is top notch, because, it sure looks like a target to me. (Also remember that the Iranians never lifted their $80 million dollar bounty on Trump's head).

The operational range of military drones (including Iranian drones) can exceed 1000 km, well outside of territorial waters for the US. An Iranian tanker ship (possibly flying under Panamanian colors) could serve as a launch pad for dozens or even hundreds of such drones. Getting those through to DC would be difficult, but Florida? If the ship was ostensibly making its way to the Panama Canal, it would be well within range, and if those drones were launched at night and stayed low, they would be invisible until far too late to scramble countermeasures.

This is probably too Action-Movie-like a scenario, but I would not be at all surprised if Mar-A-Lago became a vector for an attack, especially if both Israel and Iran have decided that assassinating political leaders was fair game.

Without it though, they are effectively surrounded by vast amounts of military resources and populations -with almost a century of built up resentment, generations of seething vengeance for lost parents, children and siblings. If Trump breaks his promises with Israel (a common theme with him), what happens to Israel?

It wouldn't prevent a swift invasion into a small area by vastly superior numbers without significant losses to their own population. We also dont know for certain that Iran has no nuclear weapons after almost a decade of an active nuclear program. Also consider how much of a deterrent russia's nuclear armament has been to being invaded by neighboring nations.

The fact that ballistic missiles are raining down on Tel Aviv isnt a huge show of confidence for nuclear armament as a deterrence. Pakistan is also a close partner with Iran, and largely against the anti Palestinian policies of Israel: They have twice as many nukes as Israel. Israel using nukes would be MAD.

It's called the Samson Option, after the Biblical Samson destroying the pillars holding up a temple of his enemies, killing himself along with them inside.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samson_Option

Nevertheless, as early as 1976, the CIA believed that Israel possessed 10 to 20 nuclear weapons.[13] By 2002, it was estimated that the number had increased to between 75 and 200 thermonuclear weapons, each in the multiple-megaton range.[14] Kenneth S. Brower has estimated as many as 400 nuclear weapons.[15] These can be launched from land, sea and air.[16] This gives Israel a second strike option even if much of the country is destroyed.[17]

Israel has more than enough nukes, and the means to deliver them, to vaporize all the major cities of every nation in the region that may threaten them, including Pakistan. Hiroshima was 15 kilotons; a 1-megaton warhead is 66X more powerful. Their nukes aren't a deterrent to general warfare. Lobbing missiles and drones at each other, killing a few hundred civilians, etc. It's a deterrent to another mass invasion to wipe them out, like they fought off in the 40's, 60's and 70's.

My two co-CEOs look out for all employees who put in their best. Nice bonuses for all, some bonuses for the lowest earners even in bad years. One guy a few years ago got mentally ill (religious fanaticism), started trying to convert everyone to fundamentalist Christianity. We fired him, but in recognition for a decade of prior good work, they kept him on the payroll at minimum wage until he found another job so he wouldn’t lose his health insurance. When we opened up in Hong Kong, and started attending conferences there, they rotated the low-level staff that were sent from Dallas, so that a maximum of our employees who could normally not afford a week in Hong Kong would be able to make the trip on the company dime, no reduction in pay or vacation time. As might be expected, we have low turnover, and the same CEOs that were there since 1983. One of them who had immense luck with his investments over the years just bought some land in Dallas and gave it to the city for a park in a low income area. He said, I’m over 70 now, what am I gonna do with an extra $20 million, anyway?

In 1983, we were maybe 25-30 people. Now we are 900. You don’t get there by being a dictator to the people that work for you. I celebrate 50 years (I worked for one of the co-CEOs before the 1983 merger) working there this August. I wouldn’t have lasted 50 weeks with a CEO that I couldn’t stand.

I knew it wouldn't last long - it is just not us to pursue peace. We are always looking for an excuse or a proxy partner to exercise our military might.

You could see it coming a mile away. It is embedded in American foreign policy. In this instance, Trump canceling the Obama Nuke deal with Iran opened the door, then Biden for fear of looking weak failed to put it back in place, so now it is the excuse we need to go for it..... Hooah, Oorah, and Hooyah.

I mean, we did so well the last three times we beat our chest.... Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan.

This AM on CNN, a mother in Israel was being interviewed. She showed the correspondent the bomb shelter in the basement of her house. It was littered with children’s toys, clothing, etc.

When asked whether she agreed with BiBi’s bombing campaign against Iran, the mom replied affirmatively, but said she wished he would have finished off the Palestinians before taking on a second front. Charming.
