DHS is supposed to be guarding the detainees until they face a court of law. As I understand it, that includes keeping the detainees alive and hopefully safe. Body disposal doesn't enter into the equation.

And that was as of May. Who knows how many deaths there actually were to date. Compare that to 23 for the entire Biden administration. A report from the ACLU and Physicians for Human Rights found that 95% of deaths in ICE custody between 2017 and 2021 could have been prevented with adequate medical care.
