Pakistan condemns Trump for bombing Iran a day after recommending him for a Nobel Peace Prize (Associated Press)Relations between the two South Asian countries plummeted after a massacre of tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir in April. The nuclear-armed rivals stepped closer to war in the weeks that followed, attacking each other until intense diplomatic efforts, led by the U.S., resulted in a truce for which Trump took credit.
Less than 24 hours later, however, it condemned the U.S. for attacking Iran, saying the strikes constituted a serious violation of international law and the statute of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

(10,245 posts)how bordering countries will be affected by US entering this conflict. Pakistan is far more an ally to Iran as to Pakistan and US are allies. Along with Russia saying they will be willing to arm Iran with nuclear warheads, this will be one long slog getting out of this. One and done? No way for US.

(131,238 posts)Trump had said last month that the nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours agreed to a ceasefire after talks mediated by the U.S., and that the hostilities ended after he urged the countries to focus on trade instead of war.
However, Modi told Trump in a phone call late on Tuesday that the ceasefire was achieved through talks between the Indian and Pakistani militaries and not U.S. mediation, according to India's most senior diplomat, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. https://archive.is/cDFmL
