(31,350 posts)immigrants aren't criminals as a rule; they don't need to be afraid to play by the rules. Some of them won't. Same with most Americans.

(60,429 posts)I think that NONE of the thugs doing the actual dirty work of rounding people up are employed by ICE. I think ICE has contracted that work iut to private firms, so that they can claim that ICE agents never mishandled anyone. It was all done on their behalf by hired goons.
So, whats the difference between a real hired goon and a fake hired goon? One robs your freedom, while the other robs your money. Its probably not always clear which is easier to replace.

(28,507 posts)I suspect this is happening far more often than is being reported. Immigrants are scared and arent going to go to the cops after being robbed or assaulted. They are easy pickings for criminals with a fake ICE shirt.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
