In my eyes, this man was a paragon of journalism. We don't see many of his kind any more.

(295 posts)I always enjoyed Bill Moyers commentary. In my mind he was kind of like Eric Sevareid for Dan Rather...

(35,176 posts)I hope one day people will grow up to look up to him like many of us did. We grew up with him, I hope he can be kept where they can read or watch him. Man, this is a real sad day.

(44,587 posts)He came to give a talk at my college.
I had known about him because my mom was a big fan of his. So I passed on her wishes to him.

(114,684 posts)so I missed hearing him lie about Vietnam along with everybody esle. By the time I had a TV, LBJ was out and Nixon was in and Moyers wasn't lying any more, it seems he'd realized what a shit show that was was before LBJ realized the generals were all lying to him. I don't think he ever got over those lies and that was a good thing, it was the beginning of many years of good journalism.
He was a goood guy. I"lll miss him.

(24,938 posts)I'm at the age now that my mother was when it seemed ever week she said, "It's the end of an era," because a public figure died.
Bill Moyers' insightful interviews of Joseph Campbell were absolutely transformative in my life.
I am so grateful. He was a marvel.
