Safe-guarding user data

Does this work with an app?
No, The Stop ICE Alerts Network is designed to work with technology already built into your smart phone, mobile device, tablet or computer.

Apps on your smartphone can be used by service providers and 3rd parties to access details related to your phone's activity across multiple datapoints. This can potentially open up unwanted vectors for user tracking compromising your privacy while also sharing that information without your knowledge.

No browser cookies. StopICE.net does not store or read cookie data from your browser. Login details are instead authenticated through a variety of encrypted tokens behind the server and deleted shortly after each session.

Data storage. User contact details such as phone or email are not stored on the StopICE.net server. This data remains encrypted and colocated on a separate and secure server to prevent your information from being compromised in the event of an unexpected data breech.

Server operations are monitored daily to prevent attacks, data breeches or other activity that may directly compromise the functionality of the alert system or the security and anonymity of users.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
