Trump reveals 'surprise' and warns Blue states will disappear off map
Story by Emily Goodin, Senior White House Correspondent
President Donald Trump said there is a 'big, big surprise' in store for Democrats in next year's midterm election as he warned blue states will 'totally disappear off the map.' Trump disregarded the age-old political theory that the incumbent president's political party loses seats in Congress in the midterm elections

He expressed confidence on Thursday night that his Republican Party would prevail in the 2026 elections, keeping its total control of the federal government. 'I think the midterms are going to be a big, big surprise,' he told the Republican Governors Association. 'You go back to the last I think eight elections in a row, the midterms haven't been great for the person that wins the presidency. And I think so far, we're very popular.'
He pointed out he has $608 million in his war chest and will be spending it 'on my friends.' And he had a warning for the blue states that go for Democrats: 'The red states are going to do good, and the blue states, I don't know, maybe they'll totally disappear off that map.' A CBS News poll last week found voters are giving Trump high marks for his first month in office.

I think it’s evidence of a delusional old man in the White House who believes in his own bullshit.

Many of them are acting is if they are concerned about the midterms - witness Thune’s unwillingness to have a vote to override the parliamentarian- that’s because the parliamentarian’s ruling rejecting some of the most heinous elements to the Ugly Billionaire Bill gives republicans cover- “gee, Mr. president, we tried to put all your stuff in the bill but it got thrown out”.

We will see even more nervous GOP reps if Medicaid cuts pass as proposed.

Another veteran republican rep announced his retirement today (Bacon of Nebraska), which could mean a pickup for Dems.

Reminder: elections are run by the states, and neither Trump nor republicans in congress have any say about it.

Don’t buy into the myth that Trump is omnipotent and the states and the people are powerless.

on various internet sites about how they were sure to win,
and that the Democratic party candidates had no chance because Trump policies were so great---
so much so that I myself had doubts about the eventual election results!

Well, the Republicans lost 40 House seats in that election.... and the Democrats took over the House again.

They are operating under the same sort of delusions now.... watching Faux News
and other "right-wing bubble" news sources who ignore any dissenters,
as well as the HUGE "No Kings" protest...

Also read about how many Republicans believe this is their "last chance"
to enact a bunch of their terrible policies, including cutting off the
"free-loading poor" and giving another big tax cut to billionaires,
and as such they are doubling down and trying to "damn the torpedoes"!

According to numerous polls I have seen, about 2/3's of the American people
OPPOSE their 'big beautiful bill'--- but numerous Republican politicians continue to claim
that the American people support their policies, and that
'this is what Trump was elected to do...'

The bill for their actions will come due....

Since federal officeholders are elected through 50 separate state elections,
over which the federal government does not have control,
I mostly reject defeatist theories which claim that they will somehow 'cancel the midterm elections'---

I can see no way they could possibly do that, unless they manage to
blunder into a nuclear war in the meantime,
which would surely kill off more urban Democrats than rural Republicans---

That's one thing that keeps me awake at night
