The midterms can't and won't be canceled- Trump is NOT omnipotent, and the states & the people aren't powerless

Most dictatorships still have elections. All the correct people win with stunning percentages of unanimous votes. It adds the fog of legitimacy and an ego boost.

Well, I definitely remember learning how Lincoln cancelled all elections during the civil war, and appointed himself to a second term…oh wait…

States control the elections, and if Lincoln attempted to cancel them, what would have stopped the remaining states from completely dissolving the union, handing the confederacy a de facto victory?

But I am completely certain they are working on making sure their people are in place to steal them. Their fake polling outlets are multiplying, in order to bring down the averages which now show Democrats with a distinct advantage over Republicans on the generic ballot.

The Democratic party does not seem to have the apparatus or ability to prevent this from happening. Not that they've shown, anyway.

If the 2024 election was stolen, the apparatus to steal future elections are still in place so no need to outright cancel.

So far, nobody has brought any evidence to court establishing those “if’s” as facts.

P.S. If the apparatus is still in place to steal elections, they’re gonna have to guess which of the 435 races to steal to keep the republicans in control of the house.

Many here do and for those who also think that Trump will cancel the 2026 election, I’m saying that there’d be no reason to cancel as they’ll just steal it.

A number of House seats are in solid red districts and a number of seats are in safe blue districts. They’d just have to figure how many of seats in toss up districts they’d have to steal in order to keep control of the House.

They will pick their strategy depending on how much opposition there is. Stealing works for them, apparently.

You are right about that. It was not needed when we have an electoral college system that can easily overcome the will of the people.

Now to get to the OP's point, I have no doubt that Trump will do everything in his power to disrupt the midterm and the 2026 elections. Start a war in the Middle East? Deploy National Guard en masse in the weeks before the elections? Assign part of his private goons to watch the polls to ensure that we have a "fair election"?

He could do any and all of these things and more now that the SCOTUS has given him unlimited power.

And the people in this country are braindead enough to stay away from the polls huddling in fear.

. . . of the mid-terms on the basis of his "inherent" powers to protect national security. Of course, an actual cancellation involves a lot more. He will probably not make such an announcement, but it is not a bad idea to consider the possibility that he might do so.

Many DUers feel that Trump wants to be declared President and Ultimate Authorirarian for Life. I am not going to spend thinking about that possibility now. But I belive is is okay to keep that thought in the back of my mind. I base that thought upon my contacts which I have had with MAGAs the past five years.
