One of his friends (most of them are liberal) posted old quotes from Republicans like Lindsay Graham and Ted Cruz, etc. saying negative things about Trump whos the Biggest Hypocrite. My brother usually keeps a low profile and gets very angry at me for trying to discuss politics but since he posted something on Facebook, I think its fair game
Ive been dying to go after his politics. Im worried he might get really pissed but here it goes:
My brother: Kind of like what the media and Democrats are saying about Biden, Harris, Waltz, etc now.
Me: and what did Biden, Harris and Waltz do that was along the lines of what Trump has done? 25 women have charged him with sexual assault and he bragged about it on video. Trump has has 4,095 lawsuits and legal cases brought against him over 3 decades for many different crimes/offenses, including fraud, unpaid bills/contracts with many businesses and individuals. He is firmly aligned with Putin and received tons of funding from Russian oligarchs. Cutting programs for Children with Cancer, aid to starving people around the world, cutting Medicaid, 80,000 veterans losing their jobs, the 37.6 million children losing their healthcare, school lunches for children, stopping war crimes, and the kidnapping of Ukrainian children.

(10,333 posts)He flunked out of a regular college and had to go to a flunky party college. His best friend did the same (went to the same flunkee college) and his sisters also went to the same university I did and got advanced degrees and are very liberal. Same exact situation. I also body-slam his friend a lot on Facebook. The friend has gotten really angry and has attacked me on Facebook. Just to confuse him, he posts a lot of stuff about cooking and music so I always like and comment on those posts - lol!

(13 posts)Good for you. I have about 10 in total family and former friends on that Schiltz list. Facts never worked. Guilt yielded some gains. The cold shoulder as my Aunt says has been slightly effective. But, I will have to try one of those old wrestling moves (not from the HS team) but will be partial to that helicopter slam.

(10,333 posts)Same thing with my high school. It used to be very Republican - but a lot of kids went to college and also moved away and they seem to be liberal - especially the smart ones. There were a few kids who were genius-level or close to it who got PhDs or advanced degrees and they are all politically outspoken and liberal.

(13 posts)my 83 year old aunt. Widowed over 40 years and a scratch golfer. When conversations drift into politics - oh that AOC, Biden, Nancy, blah blah blah. Literally, her voice changes to this almost demonic tone - a tone of hate. So, she is currently banished to the penalty box and from my (by association, our) daily routine. Education has always been a gateway to expanded horizons. Fox-infested and conservative /religious bigoted communities kill and close(d) minds and common sensibility. My first vote was for the American Saint (post- presidency) Jimmy Carter. Always have been a Dem. Did not see myself then as a progressive or liberal. I am no different now as then. My values, desires, and opinions havent really changed but evolved. So today, I am part of the progressive and liberal wing of the Dem team. Yes, education is important but we just need to teach that refresher course (or conversations) on Recent History,
