Louisiana hospitals warn Mike Johnson of ‘devastation’ from megabill

https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/06/28/congress/louisiana-hospitals-warn-mike-johnson-of-devastation-from-megabill-00431385

Every major health system in Louisiana is warning Speaker Mike Johnson and the rest of the state’s congressional delegation that the Senate GOP’s planned Medicaid cuts “would be historic in their devastation.”

The group sent the warning in a letter that also went to Majority Leader Steve Scalise and GOP Sen. Bill Cassidy, a physician who has also raised concerns about the cuts.

The health systems said the Senate’s revised text hits states like Louisiana even harder than previous iterations and would slash more than $4 billion in Medicaid funding for the state’s health care providers.

“This will negatively impact our ability to deliver care and have devastating consequences for our state budget,” they said. “These economic consequences pale in comparison to the harm that will be caused to residents across the state, regardless of insurance status, who will no longer be able to get the care that they need.”

It is so obvious now they no longer represent their constituents because they are afraid of minority of magaloon voters in their states.

I hope some group organizes a constituent group to call him protest this horrendous bill.

The GOP no longer represents their constituents, but they do represent their owners - the oligarchs.

If they are afraid of the magaloons, then they should be terrified after this bill passes, cause some of their Magas are crazy, and they might just figure that they have been betrayed.

But I also wonder, if our voting systems have been so compromised (Musk) that they are no longer worried about the voters, cause they know who is going to do the counting.

Greg Palast has been saying, and has the numbers to prove. Disenfranchisement was the major tool that the Republicans used to steal the election.

Because they're gonna get what they voted for.

The right time for thinking about what you want to get is before you vote.

Tricky, I know. It's a common mistake, apparently.

This is one of the major disconnects with Republicans.

1). Their sick tunnel vision obsession with "the rights of the unborn fetus in the womb," and they abandon their touchy-feely warmth and love the second the doctor cuts the cord and slaps the baby's ass

2). Showering billionaires with deregulations and tax cuts while saying people with disabilities or people who can't work for a multitude of reasons have to "get some skin in the game" (Florida's Rick Scott, quoted, when he tried to pull that "let's end Social Security and Medicare, and every year Republicans will vote on whether people should have it" stunt).

3). Giving a KID lunch at school isn't "Socialism" or "WOKE." It's giving a fighting chance to kids who deserve it. And taking away that boost so that Elon Musk can get a direct deposit on top of the BILLIONS he's already getting from the government is something I'll never sign off on.

And not giving kids lunch does nothing except punish them for coming from needy families, which is something regarding which the kids have no control or choice.

It's bad enough that Republicans think being poor is something people deserve, that they believe that if someone is poor, it's because because of some character flaw or moral failing, like being "lazy" or "irresponsible" or some shit. Of course that's a crock, but even IF it were true, I can't comprehend why they think it's appropriate to punish children for something that is not their fault, by depriving them of things like food, health care, a roof over their heads, clothing, educational opportunities, you name it! It's evil and sick, and it's the opposite of what the man they regard as their savior commanded his followers to do!

And then they have the nerve, the unmitigated GALL to want to criminalize women for choosing abortion instead of giving birth to babies they have no way to provide for adequately. They'll happily convict those women of "murder" and put them in prison for the rest of their lives, but they'd rather kill themselves than allocate a reasonable amount of money to help children whose parents lack the means to provide for them adequately.

And don't even get me started on their refusal to recognize the bodily autonomy of all people, pregnant or not, because I could rant all day, and none of us has time for that!

Don’t give a shit. The rich will be fine, and that’s all they care about. They don’t even care about the economic devastation that will result. In fact, they’re for it, because it means the rich will be able to buy everything up and push the middle class out of existence. They’re excited that the rest of us will finally be able to live on the rich’s little fiefdoms, ruled over by Mad King Don.
