Whose Fault Is That Chuck

"They are scrambling to pass their radical bill, released in the dead of night, praying Americans don't realize what's in it."

Chuck Schumer.

Whose fault is that Chuck?

Should have done town halls based on specific issues, should have put faces that show real people and how they will be affected, how they will die, because of the Big Ugly Death Bill. The MSM would have covered that.

When this Bill is passed it will murder millions of people. When this Bill is passed it will shorten the lives of tens of millions of people.

People do not deserve to die simply to give more money to billionaires, and these tax cuts are permanent.

The CBO's score of adding 2.4 trillion to the debt made me laugh. I will once again bet my golf clubs that it will be closer to 7 trillion than to 2 trillion. Then again maybe when people start dying off less government spending will be needed.

The sad part in all of this, I watched as many Magats on TV lying about the Big Ugly Death Bill as there were Democrats telling the truth about it. We owned the messaging with unwashed Americans and yet this bill will become law.

The people in the Democratic party with the loudest voices, who fight the hardest, are progressives who are deemed too radical for the party.
David Hogg was spot on.

Here we go again with old strategy, dump money into the next election and GOTV. Stop sending me 6 texts every day asking for money, I give to Indivisible and the ACLU that are fighting the hardest.

Project 2025 is succeeding beyond the super rich's wildest dreams. GOTV, hope we have elections and they are fair. Elect more moderates.

This is just another opportunity to take cheap shots at the Democratic party and Democratic leadership... pretending that the party has some sort of magic wand that they refused to use, or pretending that Democrats did not speak out. The was always going to happen. If you want to blame someone, blame the Republicans... take cheap shots and snipe at the Republicans. Denigrating the Democrats only serves to divide and weaken. A divided and weakened Democratic party only benefits the GOP, and Trump. All I'm saying is, why would anyone do or say anything that benefits the GOP and Trump?

Town halls like the MSNBC town hall that put faces of the fired Federal workers.

Randi Weingartner and Lee Saunders have resigned from the DNC citing dissatisfaction with chairman Ken Martin's leadership.

Explain that. That's not my opinion that's theirs.

Do you know that this bill guts solar and wind industries and gives subsidies to coal?

I am truly sorry my OP offends you. I'm sure you will take the proper response, so be it. The truth hurts.

When the republicans are a minority party, they rant and rave and still get what they want.

When Democrats are the minority, they behave like Merrick the Meek. Sure, some good firebrands are out there, but they need to universally go all in against the current regime. At some point, their relative silence compared to republicans when they are in the minority speaks volumes. They should all be doing what Bernie is doing. Barnstorm all over the country.

>> All face-to-face meetings with constituents are good.
I never said otherwise. Town halls aren't a panacea. I was trying to explain that this is not the magic wand or miracle cure for everything ails us. Instead it's being used as yet another way for certain folks to nitpick and fault-find and spread some exaggerated fable that Democrats are "hiding" and "unwilling" to do he hard work. That's false. It serves no good purpose and it's actually harmful.

Rather than faulting Democrats for perceived, imagined and exaggerated shortcomings, perhaps it would be more helpful to focus criticism and anger on the Republican party, or at those who refused to vote for the woman, or who encouraged their constituents to vote for Uncommitted. Be angry at the third-party vote-splitters.

We can never defeat the GOP when we have people running around shouting (essentially) "The sky is falling, both parties are the same!" It's time to stop treating Democrats as the enemy. That's reasonable isn't it?

* or that Democrats are "complicit," or that Democrats are "lazy," or that Democrats "don't care," or that Democrats are not worthy of voting for will help the Democrats to regain control of the Senate and the House? Denigrating the party and making the Democrats seem like an unsavory option doesn't help. Picking scabs and opening up wounds and creating division and distrust within the party isn't going to help. Making unrealistic demands of a party that is clearly NOT controlling the levers of power (because we are NOT the majority) doesn't help. So please share with us what the great plan is. What is it that the Democrats could be doing but (for one reason or another) simply refuse to do. And why would they refuse to perform this magical feat and solve all of our country's problems?

The hardest fights that has ever been waged were those to prevent Bernie Sanders from becoming the nominee in 2016 and in 2020. So, you'll have to understand that if people harshly criticize the Democratic leadership, it is because that leadership is not remotely actively trying in comparison to what everyone has seen when Bernie Sanders attempted to win the nomination. Judged against that scale, they are virtually inert.

Your other statements are more closely related to enforcing the maintenance of a 'faith' than obtaining any understanding of the situation and achieving changes that would help people with education, healthcare, income inequality, etc.

Lastly, that opening bout of snide laughter at people trying to find a way to avoid being victims of the Trump Administration's disastrous policies does not compliment your expressed viewpoints.

Go from stern words to fighting words.
Leverage your oath of office and go before the floor mic and label the orange convict and his administration domestic enemies as outlined in the oath of office and military oath.

A whole lot of people that have taken the oath of office and military oath remain silent.

Where Democrats are free to express differing opinions. Where Democrats are not forced to parrot talking points like the Magat party must do.

I want every Democrat who posts here to feel free to be able to express his/her opinions.

I want Chuck Schumer to be free to come on DU and post that his strategy for the Democratic party is to let Krasnov burn it all down and then we will win the next election without fear of that post being alerted on. I strongly disagree with that opinion but maybe Chuck is right and I am wrong?

if they lose enough under Trump. Thus, they don't need to change.

One example, some of them do not seem to realize the deterioration of our society. As if it were every day, a young, intelligent, educated man guns down a CEO of the healthcare industry. That event should have opened a floodgate of why the public is tying into this young man's actions? Frightening...it was murder, and calculated at that....why are so many in our society feeling so trapped?

Why does the great USA not have universal healthcare? Why should anyone lose their home because they became sick?
If we do not take responsibility for our losses and change, we will continue to lose.

Have there ever been debates about the need for billionaires to be given more money, to be given more taxpayer money?

People shout out that the cuts that will kill Americans are the result of the biggest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in our nation's history, but has there even been one debate held about why billionaires need more money?

I want Democrats to force Magats to back their Horse and Sparrow economic plan - Feed the horse more oats and the sparrows will have plenty to eat.

How many people here agree with what Chuck Schumer said right after the CR vote on Chris Haye's show? I heard with my 2 ears, Chuck tell Chris that his strategy was to let Krasnov burn it all down and then Democrats will be returned to power in the next election. Those are not my words, and I think that strategy is a losing one, sorry, bash me for thinking that.

This is a massive bill. There’s lots of egregious provisions in it.

Pick 5 that are the most absurd or destructive, distill each into one sentence each, and repeat it on every TV channel and online. If that works, pick 5 more.

The biggest thing is social media but it's not really elected officials themselves but instead just regular people warning about things in non political spaces.

Is how Republicans were able to benefit from social media. It wasn't people watching and listening to McConnell that did it but just random people talking about things being bad.

Based on the recent polling and what I am seeing on social media I think people know what is in this bill and hate it. Chuck is trying to show that Dems are doing something but the reality is that the most telling comment came from Mitch when he said their voters will get over it. Republicans know that everyone hates this bill but they are betting on the fact that their voters will just blame “politicians” instead of them and will keep voting for them. This bill is happening in large part because Republicans know they never have to benefit their constituents in tangible ways.
