No one's allowed to listen to John Lennon or The Beatles any more.

[Verse 1: John Lennon]
Well, I'd rather see you dead, little girl
Than to be with another man
You better keep your head, little girl
Or I won't know where I am

[Chorus: John Lennon & Paul McCartney]
You better run for your life if you can, little girl
Hide your head in the sand, little girl
Catch you with another man
That's the end, little girl

[Verse 2: John Lennon]
Well, you know that I'm a wicked guy
And I was born with a jealous mind
And I can't spend my whole life trying
Just to make you toe the line

We bought his records, the least he could’ve done was save the country that tried to deport him.

Or however that phrase goes.

(That tune was a throwaway song that John Lennon came up with at the last minute because they needed another song for "Rubber Soul." Lennon later expressed his distate over the song, as he was wont to do about a lot of Beatles songs, and deep regret for its violent imagery. The lyrics are a pity since the tune is so darn catchy.)

...and another with a guy confessing he still listens to Eric Clapton.

I'm guessing Dylan has come out supporting Trump, which I find hard to understand but I find it hard to understand why anyone supports the orange windbag.

Artists are people, like us. I disagree with pretty much everyone about something. I move on.

The argument is ridiculous, in my opinion, and I'm posting an equally ridiculous thread as a sarcastic protest.

I'm not going to link to it, but you can find it if you want.

I can appreciate cultural and aesthetic contributions without endorsing (or denying) personal beliefs or behaviors. Art often takes on meanings independent of its creator’s intentions or character.

I'll listen to him when I please, knowing he was a better man than most. "Imagine" is sort of my theme song.

And I used to have a pair of cowboy boots, and was often to be heard pissing off my then-DH (damned husband) by singing "These boots were made for walking, and that's just what they'll do. One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you." And I did. Finally wised up.

He did say later in his career that “I’m just a jealous guy.” This was during a time where he was dealing with his demons.

Our hero’s are human, beset with all those human weaknesses. I think Yoko tried to make him grow up, which is difficult when you are living the life of a rock star.
