Ford's CEO says China's EV progress is 'the most humbling thing' he's ever seen

Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford, said on Friday that the Chinese EV industry posed a serious threat to the American automaker.

Farley was speaking to the author Walter Isaacson during a panel at the Aspen Ideas Festival when he was asked about China's EV market. Farley said he'd made about six or seven trips to China in the past year.

"It's the most humbling thing I have ever seen. Seventy percent of all EVs in the world, electric vehicles, are made in China," Farley said.

"They have far superior in-vehicle technology. Huawei and Xiaomi are in every car," Farley added. "You get in, you don't have to pair your phone. Automatically, your whole digital life is mirrored in the car."

They are spectactularly ahead of the ones we can get from our Nazi-company or any of the halfhearted measures from the former Big 3 companies. We are in a position similar to the electronics industry around 1958-1962 when US companies still manufactured things but they were getting passed by from Sony, Panasonic, and later Samsung until they were run out of the manufacturing business for consumer electronics completely.

Past is prologue.

It counts down the seconds until your traffic light turns green. Damn accurate, too. BYD makes some really nice cars, too bad we can't get them here. So far ahead of Tesla.
