john fetterman's statement on the budget bill -- whew! & birthright citizenship

(kind of surprised me)

Not one single Democrat will vote for the “big beautiful bill.”

I’m here to vote on these amendments and keep the ball rolling.

I’m a HARD NO on the final bill and won’t support cutting Medicaid, SNAP or adding up to $5T to our national debt.

and this

I am unapologetically pro-immigration. I also want strong and secure borders for our great country.

Ending birthright citizenship is not the way to address any serious issue. The Constitution must be upheld.

(and an earlier one)

14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States are citizens of the United States.

I swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, and I believe the effort to end birthright citizenship will ultimately fail—as it should.

Fetterman has had some high profile occasions where he's voted for the other side, but by and large he does come through for us. We like to focus on the 20-25% where he doesn't - similar to Republicans I knew used to absolutely trash McCain even though he voted with their party the vast majority of the time.
