Federal judge seeks clarity on whether birthright citizenship order means babies could be deported

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Monday questioned when the Trump administration will try to enforce its birthright citizenship executive order and asked if the government would attempt to deport U.S.-born children of people who are in the country illegally or temporarily before restrictions on birthright citizenship might take effect in late July.

Justice Department attorney Brad Rosenberg told U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman that the administration doesn’t intend to deport any children covered by President Donald Trump’s executive while the Supreme Court has suspended its enforcement for 30 days. He called it a “hypothetical” question.

The judge gave Rosenberg until Tuesday to submit a written summary of what the administration believes it “can and can’t do” after last Friday’s Supreme Court ruling. She asked if the government would be “seeking to deport babies” before July 26. The judge said her question referred to children who were born after Feb. 19 and are covered by Trump’s executive order but aren’t plaintiffs in litigation challenging the order.

“No,” Rosenberg said. “I just want to be clear. I am responding to the court’s characterization of what it believes the United States might do after 30 days from the date of the Supreme Court’s decision. But, again, I would note that (federal agencies) have all been tasked with developing guidelines for implementation of the executive order. So I view that as a hypothetical.”

What does it matter??????

If a Nazi sees a person of color, or hears someone who has an accent, they and all their children, babies or Not, are going to be locked up.

So what's the use of clarification? Pedo Trump and his goons are all criminal liars. Do you think he's going to follow any restrictions to his Hitler power???

This is all just for show so the dancing Supremes can pretend the law matters and keep their jobs and comfy lives. The law doesn't matter at all anymore.

Just like in China, Russia and North Korea, there is no applicable law if some Nazi gets aroused to do something illegal. America now has kangaroo courts and whims of a dick tater to follow.

It's ridiculous that the Supremes think they are even relevant anymore. Pedo Trump is going to shut them down soon. They'll still get paid and get to wear long black robes but their opinions will be totally useless. Dick taters don't need judges. They need enforcers.

He is denying birthright citizenship for children of undocumented parents in violation of the 14th Amendment. Miller would be gleeful to rip babies from their parents and deport them to separate countries or even to jails in El Salvador. He loved putting babies and toddlers in cages during Trump’s first term.

... CANNOT legally rescind a Constitutional Amendment. But then, since when did "'legal" mean a fuckin' thing to a Republican?

You just make an EO to rescind right before it is set to happen, and the SC make it work out for the president, either way 😉. Unless youre a dem president of course.

That and we're not cutting Medicaid, SNAP or dozens of other things except defense of course.
On a side note, I'm sure that Trump will try to get the military to go full Maga by threatening draconian cuts and the game show type contest to which branch will run his new SS.

He fired all the generals, and as long as you give 100% allegience to trump, you get to keep your job. This country is so fucked.
