... There are specific procedures for amending the Constitution, and Trump issuing one of his asinine edicts via Executive Order aint one of em. He is a pathological liar who considers himself the king of America. He isnt. Hes just a loudmouthed asshole with delusions of grandeur. Not even the grotesquely corrupt Roberts Court can decree Birthright Citizenship null and void.
And shithead should consider the fact that half his spawn would be subject to deportation even if he could rescind Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, WHICH. HE. CANNOT. DO!

(55,854 posts)Or perhaps, get away with taking advantage of self-serving misinterpretations.
For instance, the constitution say the supreme courts can resolve certain disputes. It doesn't say how. For cell the talk about constitutional interpretation, their Machiavellian view is that a 6-3 majority can resolve a case however the want for whatever reason they want and frankly, they don't even owe us an explanation. The constitution doesn't demand that they explain themselves.
Of course, this is abjectly terrible governance, but we're talking about power-mad group that doesn't care about good governance or the constitution.
They already allowed an insurrectionist to become president, in violation of the 14th amendment. Their reasoning was poor. They relied on the fact that the 14th amendment allows congress ti enforce it by legislation. But they just means they can pass a law to fine people or send them to prison if they attempt it or lie about being an insurrectionist or whatever.
A court doesn't need a federal law to hold a hearing to determine if a candidate is eligible or to defer to state processes, which already determine eligibility based on age and citizenship. They just made up that Colorado couldn't keep Donnie off the ballot due to one constitutional requirement even while they are expected to verify other constitutional requirement, namely that he's over 35 and a natural-born citizen.
So if this court says anyone Donnie designates as a terrorist or whatever can be exiled or be stripped of their citizenship even if acquired at birth, who or what is going to stop them.
It's wrong, it violates the constitution, but here's the thing: the constitution is rapidly becoming a relic. It was always only as good as the people in a position to abide by it. And the current crop is a very, very corrupt crowd.
Our controlling power structure now is largely the Republican Party, billionaires, a heavily biased right-wing media, and Donnie. The constitution is merely an obstacle for them, and likely a temporary one at that.
