It sure isn't over for me!

People's have shed tyrants against much worse odds.

I will not hand them victory without giving the full account and measure of myself.

Worst case scenario, the self serving nature of the people running the world pushes the environment over the edge, and humanity loses out. Life will likely go on.

Or people survive and eventually grasp for freedom again.

There is always hope. It just really sucks that a lot of us won't get to be part of a better future. I was really hoping for the star trek future, not the fallout future

The traitors are our enemy. Our row, however, would be much easier to hoe had the Democratic leadership approached the traitor and his conspiracy as an existential threat to the United States of America. Perhaps they were under the impression that the news media would do its job -- the ONLY business enterprise named in the entire Constitution -- as described in the First Amendment.

and since I'm part of the generation scarred by "duck and cover," I've always been resigned to seeing that. I'm just a little surprised to be approaching another decade in a couple of years, who'd have thought I'd live this long?

Most countries coming out of the most hideous dictatorships manage, if not Golden Ages, at least long periods of peace, prosperity, and stability. We've had rotten presidents before, even long runs of rotten presidents (like the runup to the Great Depression) and we've managed to come out of it. I have to think that unless the nukes start to fly, we'll get through this , tooo.

Thu Jul 3, 2025, 02:27 PM

Even though we likely passed the climate tipping point years ago, the revocation of clean energy programs guarantees that the planet will pass 3C by the end of the century and doom a sizeable chunk of civilization to collapse. There is no magic technology scalable enough to sequester all the carbon we're about to emit.

But that's because I'm not buying into the crazy doom postings or melodramatic media headlines either.
Things are certainly not going how I would like them to go, but reality doesn't at all correlate with the news and social media narratives.
I know what the fix is for this, and that fix is to do what we almost always do in the upcoming med-term elections. We can see it from here, we just have to be patient and try to recognize the frenzy of melodramatic exaggeration of every single thing that is going on right now for what it is, and that is a great deal of fear-mongering BS.
We all knew they would sew chaos for a couple of years so we shouldn't be at all surprised by any of this. But, this can be fixed, and we will fix it like we always do. We just need to stay grounded for the time being and focus on solutions, not crazy headlines full of BS.
