Apparently, the ICESturhm has led to impersonators
In our park newsletter for this month, the site manager reported there were men last month going door-to-door saying she'd sent out a notice saying they'd be coming around to ask to see everyone's PG&E bill. When questioned by residents, the report said, they became belligerent and combative.
The manager went out to confront them with help from residents tracking them. She said se told them they were on private property under false pretenses, and police woild be called if they didn't leave immediately. She didn't know then a neighbor of ours had already called police, who were right on their tail as they hurriedly scampered away.
Now, these guys certainly could've been part of a scam having nothing to do with ICE. But it's pretty clear they weren't legitimate, and with the ICESturhm on most people's minds, it seems like a tactic designed to take advantage of that. In any case, when my companion told me about this, it dawned on me that ICE has provided a prime opportunity for impersonators.
