Concentration camps.
Revoking citizenship of US citizens.
Deportation of the apprehended to onshore and offshore gulags / torture prisons, without trial or recourse.
Blatant corruption.
Masked "federal agents" - by their masking, indistinguishable from rapists and murderers - allowed to assault and brutalize anyone ( under the guise of apprehending "criminals" ) .
Abandoning allies and funneling support to global bad actors.
Utter, rampaging destruction of what little is left of America's wilderness, near-ish wilderness, and other public lands, for the profit of the already insanely wealthy.
Raping and pillaging of the environment in every other conceivable way that profits his corporate friends. (leading to increased pollution, worse health, hastened climate change, and more.)
Redistribution of wealth from the masses to the privileged few.
(I'm sure I missed a few, feel free to add to the list)
That list is already happening or clearly on the horizon.
When will it stop?
Protest and demonstration actions are useful but on their own will not stop this. The protests will not significantly move the levers of power - not directly. Protests need to MOVE THE PEOPLE to take stronger direct non-violent action. Not the least of which will be VOTE THE M'FERS OUT. But it cannot wait that long.
I do not know what this means in concrete terms, just putting out there that this is what we need to be looking toward.
N.B.: I believe strongly in the power of non-violent action. I do not believe in violence as a solution. (We should take a clear lesson from other parts of the world, what happens when leading with violence to address injustice).
Perhaps we need to look back to MLK and Gandhi to see what needs to be done?

(1,491 posts)We are out of time. With the SCOTUS decisions, Big Disaster Bill and Congressional kowtowing to the TACO Tyrant we are goose-stepping toward fascism, Your points illustrate that this is Now an authoritarian state.
The Republican office-holders across the nation are all-in and they will move faster.
He will not leave the White House in 2029, and if hes unalive
.whoever is in the Oval as his successor will be as bad.
Republicans know that they must keep a dictator because that is who is protecting them

(19,040 posts)most (or a very large minority) of our Republican neighbors.
If we cannot flip a good number of our R neighbors - at least to flip on this regime, if not exactly become leftist Democrats - then all hope is truly lost.
I do not believe that most of my neighbors with Trump signs last fall, are criminals. Most of them are at least "middling" decent people, who are simply deluded about what this regime offers them, and blind to the terrible immorality of the regime. (Because Faux, and other media keeps them blind to it.)
(to your point - "Republicans know that they must keep a dictator because that is who is protecting them
.all of them

(3,297 posts)Success will come from defeating the MAGA supporters, not from winning them over. Germany was filled with "middling" decent people in the 1930s.

We need to clearly link that this is over 40 years of Republicans spreading hate and lies to divide people and turn us against one another.

(1,491 posts)Some of these Republican voters appear to be OK and decent neighbors
.But I would not trust them.
If they cant spot a conman and provocateur after 8 years spreading his lies and hate, theres something going on inside of them and theyre a threat to my freedom.
Thanks for your comment.

(19,040 posts)Some courts will act rightly, but they must necessarily act slowly, and ultimately if something goes to the SC, then we have seen that most of the decisions will favor the regime.
We might be able to turn Congress somewhat at the mid-terms. But the ONLY way to turn this country around will be a veto-proof majority. That seems very unlikely. If we get enough of a majority to obstruct the worst of further bad intentions, well that's something, but what has been done in this term will mostly continue. And realize that a slim majority will be relatively easy pickings for the regime to coerce compliance.
The SC is lost at least until a new president. Whoever willingly failed to vote for Harris owns every bit of the evil that is happening now.

We have not yet begun to see the limits of his cruelty. Alligators around a prison is only the beginning.

(10,695 posts)is nothing I see on the immediate horizon that is going to stop it. Certainly not all the useless yacking by pundits on MSNBC that he cant do this and that while the reality is that the courts have laid down for him to do whatever he wants. Unless Democrats can achieve a veto proof Congress in 2026 and extend the Supreme Court it looks very much like we will be stuck with this evil president and his evil administration for a long time.
If he can do anything he wants can he not stop elections too? That seems to be the question now and given everything else weve watched I see no reason not to think he will try to do that too. Hes done everything else like cutting through soft butter.
