America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.

(9,963 posts)His message is proud and loud, and you know how the republicans and democrats BOTH treat that in a Democrat. Only republicans are allowed to be loud and proud in this country. It's been that way since the 1970's.
I mean, look at how they try to keep AOC and Jasmine Crockett in a box.

(4,165 posts)in the general election. The movements you site were a protest against Biden's actions regarding Gaza and did not affect the outcome of the election. Momdani did NOT promote with-holding Democratic votes in the general election where it mattered.
It's important that we be clear about that. We don't want to be spreading misinformation here.
I get that you disagree with his position on Gaza, or his criticism of Biden. Are you willing to help a Trump lackey, or a man already removed from office for crimes, win because of that?
Note that your comparison is a bit of a stretch. He protested against one of Biden's policies, his right in a democracy.
He didn't threaten to deport anybody.

(3,376 posts)What happens in the primaries are not isolated events.
I've searched to see if he voted for Harris in the general and couldn't find any evidence.
I disagree with withholding your vote,
it's a sad state of affairs that New Yorkers have a chronic sexual offender. A candidate that has and continue to be bribed by Felon34.A man that wanted to get his way . So he supported silencing himself and others that agree with him. By silencing themselves they only hurt Biden/Harris.

(4,165 posts)I don't think it fair to characterize a protest as "wanted to get his way."
I've participated in protests all my life: Anti-Vietnam War marches, Civil Rights events starting in the 60's, and now Anti-Trump.
Is that wanting to get my way? Or voicing my freedom of speech regarding something I believe to be wrong?
The quote I found about Momdani stating he "voted proudly for Kamala" was AI. I don't know the original source, so take it as you will.
I withheld my vote in the primary. Not because of Gaza. Because I thought there should have been a primary. I felt silenced already by not having the opportunity to vote for a Democrat I prefer. I understand we are supposed to support an incumbent but I thought he was too old to run again and believed long before the debate that he could no longer win. Based on appearances I'd seen of him. This is not a criticism of his many non-Gaza accomplishments as president.

(3,376 posts)Thank you for protesting and I feel my generation dropped the ball on the wins you protested to achieve.
Because he was so supportive of the uncommitted strategy. I'm very skeptical that he did vote for Harris.
Even if I don't agree with a cause I support protest. I think we disagree on the best way to do it.
I fully support economic withdrawal to protest companies.
A third of the electorate doesn't vote and I bet 100% of them aren't happy with the way things are going in this country.

No "in". Your previous post in this thread.
I believe he did vote for Kamala. For what it's worth, her stepdaughter is active in Momdani's campaign.
I know there are many who didn't vote for Kamala over Biden's Israel/Gaza policy. It is maddening. But I don't believe Mamdani is that short-sighted. Many who were involved in the uncommitted policy did not take it to the general and understood the stakes.
