I think the publicly ragiest white guys are the stupidest ones like this guy. Beat down by life because he is so effing stupid and blames anyone who isn't white with the most rage. And probably less publicly he hates on all women too. The smarter white guys are selfish, hateful and ignorant but not as ragy. I'm getting ragier but it's towards the middle aged white guys who look like me because people probably assume when they see me that I'm an a$$hat like them. They also ruined for me the color red, American flags and days like today... among so many other things.

you have no one to blame but yourself. Knowing that, as some white men must, would, with a few beers, make you behave like that. To the narrator's first point, that the hater is one of the most privileged people in our society, I would add that somewhere inside, he knows that his life is explained not just by bad luck, but by decisions he made himself. He is therefore enraged. But he's still a coward: he'll harangue people in public, but not throw a punch. (Someone might punch him back.). The Asian guy is prudent: He wants to get where he's going without getting punched or having to talk to the police. This makes him a smart Asian guy. The woman who tries to diffuse the situation identifies with the Asian guy--no one asked her to move to the back of the bus today, so she decides to be publicly on the Asian guy's side. Three cheers for her. And if I had been there, I would have wanted to say something to the hater, and I'm a smaller woman than the woman on the train. I think all women are trained to keep the peace if possible. If I had been there, I would probably have said nothing, because I would have been frozen in impotent outrage. Our narrator is smart, well informed, and a very good people reader.

Thanks for finding this little film.

Driving home the other day, a huge pickup truck came out of nowhere and rode my tail. He was flying a huge American flag out the back of his truck. I don't have stickers on my car and I was doing a little over the speed limit in my 20 year old car.

The sick people are empowered.

She assumed that the white man who got up and left was simply ducking the situation. He might have been going to find a conductor or somebody in authority on the train to summon help. That's what I would have been doing. I might have called 911, too. I am sure I would have gotten up and left like he did, but it would have been to summon help, not out of cowardice. I'm a white man too, but I'm also 75 years old and not in the best health. Getting involved in a scuffle or outright fight could be extremely hazardous to my health, maybe even fatal. Summoning help would have been a far more effective course of action for me in terms of attempting to defuse that situation.
