General Discussion

......Pete, Kamala again, and why Hillary lost. Also the usual commentary about conservative, Repub heads exploding. All good fun. But it has me remembering when Bill Clinton won and he and Hillary were heading to the White House. There was talk about how competent she was, how smart and accomplished, and how she wouldn't just be the usual "first lady", but a partner. Even the term "dual presidency" was used. The Right Wing lost their minds, and we sort of forgot about the depth of their hatred in 2016 when we gave her the nomination.

(2,077 posts)Orange Julius Caesar has never won an election against a man (Biden), only women (Clinton, Harris). Is 'Mur'ca even ready yet for a woman President? I'm amazed to this day we elected a Black President. I never expected to see that in my lifetime.

(11,455 posts)This was pointed out and discussed; we do not relitigate that election cycle here. It was the equivalent of a civil war and is best relegated to the past. We even have a DU alert rule about it.
Many of us were alive and adults during Bill's terms, and so we're very well versed on the demonization of Hilary, which actually started during the GE campaign in 92 against Bush the Elder...remember the 60 Minutes "stand by your man" comment, that they successfully marketed as an insult to country music and family values? Yea.
