'I think he hit one. Hell yeah, boy!' US aid workers filmed shooting at Gazans

Armed US contractors at one of Gaza’s new aid distribution hubs appeared to fire at Palestinians before celebrating, leaked footage has suggested.

Video seems to show machine gun fire in the vicinity of civilians seeking aid, with an American voice shouting: “I think you got one.”

Another voice adds: “Hell yeah, boy!”

A former security contractor at one of the sites told the BBC he saw a guard with a machine gun open fire from a watchtower because a group of women, children and elderly people were moving away from the site too slowly.

GHF’s private security partner, Safe Reach Solutions (SRS), is run by Philip Francis Reilly, a former head of the CIA’s covert action – “special activities” – unit with experience of training insurgencies such as Nicaragua’s right-wing Contras militias.

Both companies have been urgently recruiting former intelligence officers and special forces veterans to run their Gaza operations.

....

A job posting from UG Solutions sought former members of US Army Special Forces and Delta Force who were “skilled in unconventional warfare tactics” and could deploy to an undisclosed overseas location within two weeks of May 20. The posting also enquired about proficiency with “Belt-Fed Machine Guns”.

Bolding mine.

It's a tangled web of ex-US intelligence, mercenaries for hire and evangelical bullshit and hatred.

The unknown individuals who were quoted out of any context in the article, or the unknown individuals who may or may not have responded to a job posting by UG Solutions?

And how many degrees of separation would you propose to make an unknown connection between the unknown former and the unknown latter?

https://apnews.com/article/palestinians-israel-gaza-contractors-aid-distribution-fe27f3ea83e06a09d66424eed7a5d56f

The [AP] analysts said that the bursts of gunfire and the pop sequences in some of the videos indicated that guns were panning in different directions and were not repeatedly aimed at a single target. They could not pinpoint exactly where the shots were coming from nor who was shooting.

GHF says the Israeli military is not deployed at the aid distribution sites. Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani, an army spokesman, said the army is not stationed at the sites or within their immediate proximity, especially during operating hours. He said they’re run by an American company and have their own security.

One of the contractors who had been on the sites said he’d never felt a real or perceived threat by Hamas there.

SRS says that Hamas has openly threatened its aid workers and civilians receiving aid. It did not specify where people were threatened.

and

The AP cannot independently verify the contractors’ stories.
Mentioned twice.

And yet, the default assumption here is that the article you cited is fact-based and not a heavily edited recitation of hearsay, which it is.

Why do you think The Telegraph neglected to mention any of it, and more, in its peculiar rendition of the incident?

You are full of presumptions but they make no sense.

Who can possibly have the need or desire to defend someone whose identity, whose actions, and whose relevance to the accusations you are insinuating is a complete unknown?

And how does gratuitously quoting random snippets of undetermined and unverified origins and context change any of it?

Never mind that you are skirting the issue to begin with.

And the evidence is underwhelming, to say the least.

The video is dated May 2025. The source is identified as AP.

AP made its own analysis of the video in question, and this is what their experts concluded:

In the video where the men are heard egging each other on, the echo and acoustics of the shots indicate they’re fired from a position close to the microphone, said Rob Maher, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Montana State University and an author and research expert in audio forensic analysis. Maher and the other analyst, Steven Beck, owner of Beck Audio Forensics, said there was no indication that the videos’ audio had been tampered with.

The analysts said that the bursts of gunfire and the pop sequences in some of the videos indicated that guns were panning in different directions and were not repeatedly aimed at a single target. They could not pinpoint exactly where the shots were coming from nor who was shooting.
https://apnews.com/article/palestinians-israel-gaza-contractors-aid-distribution-fe27f3ea83e06a09d66424eed7a5d56f

There are parts of the video that were edited out. One can only speculate what those parts contained, but obviously the video doesn't show the whole picture. Since, per AP experts, the shots came from close proximity of the camera, and since they were panning in different directions, and since the alleged scene of the shooting is separated from the camera by mounds at least 15 feet high, it is not only unlikely that the participants in the conversation you are referring to were able to see the alleged scene of the shooting, it is physically impossible for gun fire to hit a target over the mound, no matter where the shots were directed. It is also unlikely that the shooting is in any way related to the recorded conversation, or who or what was hit and under what circumstances. In fact, the compound shown in the video looks nothing like a food distribution center, and there is not a single Palestinian in sight, and not a single person was videotaped discharging a weapon. And, in fact, there is nothing to indicate that the recorded conversation pertains to Gazan civilians in any context.

Yet neither you nor the Guardian hesitate to call it a hit on a civilian. Why?

They’re doing this because they know there will be no consequences from the IDF or the US, sadly.

People who are willingly ignorant of the situation will say this video is fake, they’re really shooting at Hamas, Hamas was hiding behind civilians obviously, etc. etc.
