Chantal Tropical Storm Warning...

A few more inches of rain here, and my car will be floating in the backyard. It's coming down hard and fast. Thankfully, the storm appears to be moving fast.

As per usual, the storm changed direction. It's important to always be ready for a change in direction. It will happen and usually when you least expect it.

The coast of North Carolina isn't known as the graveyard of the Atlantic for giggles.

Also, per usual, it's right over my area. Again. So, always be prepared no matter where you are. These storms are known not only for their wobbles but for spawning tornadoes, too.

Not per usual...
For the first time that I can remember this phrase appears in the Special Weather Statement:

Be a Good Samaritan and helpful to others.

It's not a bad suggestion, but it seems oddly unscientific and a bit blurry on the church/state thing.

Does anyone else remember seeing the phrase in previous Special Weather Statements?

Prove me wrong. Please.

Stay weather aware. We're on our own now. Apparently.

Still raining. The backyard's great for mud baths. I just hope the road closed signs don't show up. littlemissmartypants Jul 2025 #5

"Be a good neighbor" instead - a bunch less bible/preachy in tone.
There are lots of other ways to put that sentiment.

Hmmmm.... I still don't like the word "good" in there.
How about "Be mindful of your neighbors and help them if you can if they are in distress."

Also, it's good to remember that you are always your own first responder.
