Mrs Betty Bowers, Re:This this puritanical pixie, and his placebo of prayer.

It is galling for this puritanical pixie, who has the secular power to (1) prevent deaths in floods by making sure the National Weather Service is funded; and (2) help now by making sure FEMA is funded, to pretend that all we have as a nation to respond to disasters is the free placebo of prayer.

Is the perfect way to describe this self-righteous, sanctimonious jerk who thinks he is so far above everyone else. I hate seeing his holier than thou smirk when he answers a reporter's question, and lying his ass off in his response. He is the opposite of what a Christian is supposed to be.

Real prayer has a placebo component (placebos having the power to sometimes actually heal) but can be much more.
Pretend prayer to make people think you are holy and compassionate when you aren't has no power, placebo or otherwise.
When done by a politician, it's just plain maddening and insulting.

... is no more a "Christian" than Beelzebub is a Girl Scout.
No REAL Christian would have even allowed Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" on the floor of the House. A REAL Christian would have chopped it into chum and flushed it down The Orange Gargoyle's golden toilet.
Religion has no place in governance, but Johnson and his ilk want to be the Christian Taliban. ALL of the Founding Fathers were vehemently opposed to ANY religious doctrine influencing America's government in any way, shape, or form.
In Vermont, where I live, it was reportedly forbidden to be anything but a Congregationalist. They had to abandon that position if they wanted statehood. Freedom of religion also means freedom from religion.

who exempt themselves from the burdens they force upon others.

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray ...that they may be seen of men...Be not ye like unto them..." (Matthew 6:5-8 KJV)

"O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh...an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forthe evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment (Matthew 12:34-36 KJV)

"...but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay those on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do for to be seen of men...Matthew 23:3-5 KJV)

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean” (Matthew 23:25-26 KJV).

"Ye blind guides, which strain on a gnat, and swallow a camel. (Mattew 23:24 KJV)

They need to repent but, like the felon (who has never uttered the name of Jesus), are too far gone to repent.
Pharisaic christian men like Johnson and his fellow prayers worship mammon, the devil of power and wealth, and will be damned for the damage they do to humans under their charge.

And the damage that's done to their neighbor (fellow humans) will be exactly what they will have to answer for when their souls stand before God's judgment. On Judgment Day, all humans will be judged for what they did or didn't do to obey what Jesus called the Two Great Commandments:
Love God with your whole heart, soul, strength and mind, and
Love your neighbor as yourself.

What they need to do before anything else is repent, because God forgives, but only those who admit they sinned against God and their neighbor, and ask for forgiveness by praying an act of contrition (show a contrite heart), then do penance/atonement and make amends to those they've hurt.
Because if say they're sorry to God and then go ahead and keep doing to their neighbor what they repented for, they are mocking God, which is unforgivable.
God isn't some ATM machine of forgiveness and salvation.

I don't know why people that vote for republicans do not understand that government is supposed to work for the people.
For crying out loud, you need government to do more than own the libs!
Seriously republican voters should be offended that all these people have to offer is thoughts and prayers.
You can get that for free. Why should these assholes get paid 6 figure salaries and healthcare that some of us don't have have to pray???
Make it make sense.
