Elon likes to retweet BS that strokes his ego. Such as:
He is motivated not by making money, not by being powerful and kicking around people, but by these missions that came when he was a little kid sitting in the corner reading the superhero comics.
I've got to help humanity be space-faring. I've got to help it get over this sustainable energy issue.
I've got to help it fight off artificial intelligence that might be evil.
So, there is a goodness to his missions, and they are epic missions."

Elon cares so much about 'humanity' he recently proclaimed, The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy..." CNN
Hmmm, is there superhero role model that doesn't want to pay taxes, is racist and lacks empathy? Perhaps little Elon confused villians with superheros while reading comics in the corner?

(9,249 posts)He cares about scarfing up all the personal data on as many people as he possibly can. He cares about being paid for internet service that he can turn off on a whim, and affect nations' ability to defend themselves. And, like the president he put in office, he cares about retribution.
Humanity? Not so much.
Exhibit A: kids who starved to death due to him trying to trash USAID and leaving food shipments already paid for to rot.
Exhibit B: Poorly made vehicles that are often mobile BBQs that risk everyone on the road and firefighters called to squelch the extremely hot vehicle fires, or self-guided missiles that sometimes mow down pedestrians.
Exhibit C: Listen to his older kids talking about what a piss poor father he is.

(2,094 posts)And it certainly doesn't excuse Isaacson an excuse for being so gullible.
Musk suffers from the delusion that he's a unique genius capable of doing the best for humanity. Many tech bros are in a similar boat. Unfortunately they mistake having a lot of money with being good at things unrelated to their companies.
