CT-GOV: State Rep. Josh Elliott (D) to run for governor in 2026 election

State Rep. Josh Elliott (D-Hamden) has filed paperwork to run for governor of Connecticut, becoming the first Democrat to officially enter the 2026 race.

Elliott, who was first elected in 2016 after defeating then-House Speaker Brandon Sharkey in a primary upset, currently represents the 88th District.

Gov. Ned Lamont has said he is strongly considering seeking a third term, but has not yet made a formal announcement.

Elliott has been a vocal advocate for progressive policies, including tax reform and criminal justice changes.
