Sorting through Texas' flood morass

A couple of things stood out at the end of this news report. The first was around the 3:30 mark when one local told the reporter they indeed got an alert and promptly turned it off because they assumed it was an Amber Alert. I am not surprised as I think the frequency of Amber Alerts has built a degree of alert fatigue in residents.

The other thing I noticed is about the 5:12 mark. It would seem that both Texas and the White House are helping further conservative arguments about reducing federal involvement. Texas is leaning on state and local relief, along with faith-based efforts and assistance while federal aid has been kept at a distance. Expect to hear that "Texas got along fine after the floods" from impassioned right-wingers soon.
