(27,640 posts)In the Gospels, Jesus takes a hard line against divorce, but, in two passages in Matthew, allows an exception for porneia, which literally translates to harlotry (as in playing the harlot) and is generally rendered in modern translations as sexual immorality. So, yes, it would appear Ken got caught with his pants down, literally.

People like this don't get divorced on "biblical grounds."
Even if she didn't know he was a rat when she married him, she's known it for a long time.

(6,830 posts)This being one battle in the (purposefully) quiet Texas war between the the Flat-Out Cat-Cray-Cray republicans like Paxton, and the older, Don't-Mess-With-My-Portfolio republicans.
Cornyn's been playing this primary close to his chest. Until now is my guess. Keep in mind, he went through impeachment proceedings about two or three years ago because of the lengths he went to cover up a prior affair. His wife is a TX seneator.

One last thing take him out Cornyn, youve got new ammo to use for your campaign.

Was there bribery and corruption involved this time too, or was this just good old-fashioned lust?

(32,354 posts)If this divorce is for real and it actually happens, it might impact Paxton's potential efforts to replace John Cornyn (R) as U.S. Senator. Sure would be nice to see U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) get a break like that---I hear she's polling really well. Texas Democrats are way overdue for some positive news.

(53,179 posts)But these aren't normal times. Texas overwhelmingly voted for a man who paid off a porn star to keep quiet about having sex with her (and his mushroom dick) shortly after his 5th child was born to his 3rd wife.
Sorry, I'm jaded.

(32,354 posts)I'll settle for this marital development kneecapping Paxton's consideration of a run for the Senate. Impotent old John Cornyn looks good, by comparison.

(13,476 posts)Paxton was impeached by the Texas House for corruption involving a donor and real estate developer. As an aside, Paxton tried to get his mistress a job with the same developer.
The Senate failed to convict and his wife was prevented from voting on the impeachment; however, she was seated in the Chamber thereby increasing the required number of guilty votes.
The corruption was exposed by members of AG Paxtons staff, who Paxton later fired. They sued for retaliatory firing and prevailed.
DOJ was investigating the corruption.
UPDATE: Trumps DOJ declined to prosecute the case.
The $6.6 million award to Paxtons Staff as result of their whistle blower lawsuit was paid by the State of Texas.
Prior to becoming AG, Paxton was under state indictment for selling securities to investors without disclosing he was profiting from their purchase of those securities.
