ICE detains US citizen visiting immigration court

M.B. Mack / Published Jul 11 2025, 1:08 PM EDT

A 71-year-old U.S. citizen who went to observe immigration court proceedings in San Diego to "protect refugees" was detained by ICE agents this week.

Barbara Stone, a longtime immigrant rights volunteer, was at the courthouse to document how officers interact with asylum seekers, according to NBC San Diego. On Tuesday, she was handcuffed and held for eight hours after an agent accused her of pushing them, an allegation she denies. Video of the incident, now widely circulated, shows Stone visibly distressed as she's taken into custody. No charges have been filed.

Her husband, Gershon Shafir, called the arrest "completely baseless," describing Stone as gentle and nonviolent. She later showed NBC 7 a bruise on her arm and said the experience left her mentally and physically traumatized. Her phone was confiscated and has not been returned ...

At what point do people realize that if they're going to arrest a 71-year-old woman like that, then none of us are safe. It's a fucked up world out there right now

there are cameras in every corridor and room in the building (with the exception of restroom, but ya’ never know)

and i would also bet that those videos would show that she is innocent

and i would further bet that the thugs involved don’t come even close to giving a shit because they themselves personally will NEVER have to pay a cent

and it wouldn’t surprise me if somehow someway those cameras have the exact same fatal flaw that the cameras watching epstein had.

Chances are either her backpack or a hand brushed near or bumped the female "officer" who was approaching her to shoo her out.
Of course, these snowflakes think they're being assaulted if you call them a dirty word under your breath in passing.
