Tomi Lahren just posted on the other place that the federal government should âlet California goâ and that California should get ânot one dime.â Where does she think the federal government gets most of its dimes?

(35,003 posts)Seriously, I have always wondered who this dipshit is, and why anyone should give a rat's ass what she thinks. It's not like she has ever done anything of significance. She's just another slightly-attractive, young bottle blonde who spews right-wing bullshit.

(19,755 posts)CA paid $79B more than it got from the feds in 2023, the second highest total amongst the 19 net payer states (only NY is higher).
12.2% of federal revenues come from CA. All those net taker states would be really screwed if any of the top net payer states (top 7: NY, CA, NJ, TX, WA, MA, MN) got to leave.

(662 posts)NM is a blue state, but takes in much more federal dollars than it gives out. Probably due to Los Alamos and nearby research centers.

(8,710 posts)I think the map is supposed to represent the states that VP Harris won in 2024.
Almost half of them are taker states, but the net is still around $247B in donor funds across all 21 states/DC, which in turn is a bit over 5% of total federal receipts from the states.
Per capita, California is the lowest donor state (~$2k) and Delaware is the highest (~$11k).

(3,057 posts)I've had it. I'm totally, completely tired of supporting these rancid, disgusting pieces of reich-wing garbage with my tax dollars. Pay up or die on the vine.

(2,081 posts)they would be dumb not to. I would greatly prefer that over becoming a wholly independent republic unless a bunch of other states joined in. The fascists can withdraw their forces, take all their military invasion fantasies, and fuck off. Granted, they've already crossed that line, but the protection of (an)other nation(s) would give them second thoughts there.
Fuck these fascists. I'm beyond done with them, and losing CA hurts them far more than they know.
