(6,762 posts)does he think his voters are? Probably shouldn't ask...but the answer must be "very, very stupid" for him to think a transparent ploy such as this would influence them.

Hawley is a moron if he thinks that will actually work. Or he's pandering to some part of his constituency. Who actually are morons, if they voted for him

(8,823 posts)They assign enough people to read sections and then summarize and report to their senator or rep. So, the excuse about not knowing what's in the bill does not really hold water.

(6,762 posts)Numerous experts reviewed the entire thing and explained the worst parts on air, many times, before he voted.
He could easily have informed himself. Actually, I believe he knew exactly what he was voting for. Effin' hypocrite.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) wants to repeal parts of the big, beautiful law he just voted for.
Hawley on Tuesday introduced new legislation to roll back some of the Medicaid cuts that were included in the massive tax cut law, which passed the Senate two weeks ago and was signed into law by President Trump on July 4.
Hawleys bill would repeal provisions that limit states ability to levy taxes on health providers to receive more money from the federal government. The bill also seeks to repeal a cap on state-directed payments, which allows states to direct how providers are paid by privately run managed care plans.
Now is the time to prevent any future cuts to Medicaid from going into effect, Hawley said in a statement. I want to see Medicaid reductions stopped and rural hospitals fully funded permanently, he added.

(54,886 posts)and no other Rethug changed from Nay to Yea, the entire BBB would fail.
This rescission package is extremely narrow and has no effect on the vast, vast majority of the BBB.
The two are NOT the same thing, they just are not.
Also, Hawley agrees with most all of BBB, save for a few things. He certainly would not be the vote that killed the whole BBB.

(7,946 posts)changing a vote now means absolutely nothing, and he knows it. All it shows him to be is a flip flop idiot. What, he wasn't shown enough of the bill, being from MO, to know not to vote against it when it counted? Too bad. He's going to have to live with the results, and hopefully the people of MO know exactly what kind of "man" he is and will vote him out. One can dream. At least, I keep dreaming about people kicking out all these KS Brownback holdovers... seems no matter how hard I work against them, they keep getting back into office. (sigh)

(11,162 posts)removing the Medicaid cuts - probably would pass...get most Dem votes and lots of GOP votes...
Result - They get the tax cuts for billionaires, no one gets kicked off of Medicaid, rural Hospitals stay open...only bad result is about another TRILLION of debt is added to the deficit.
Then when our debt is downgraded and people begin whining about why they cannot get anything done in terms of social safety net - the powers that be will just point to our DEBT.
