I once had a discussion about this with a “conservative” acquaintance, and explained why trickle down economics is so wrong. His attitude was that he wanted the rich to get extra tax cuts because he aspired to be rich one day. This guy is moderately intelligent, and made a good living, but he was clearly never going to be in the top 10%. That didn’t matter to him. He hoped to be rich, and wanted to make sure that, if he ever got there, the government wasn’t going to take what he felt he deserved. Even if the laws he espoused were clearly designed to prevent him from getting rich in the first place.
