And actually, the internal genitalia consists of gonads and ways to get the sperm/egg from the gonads outside.

"Cloacal kiss" is the word I learned years ago. Male and female match up cloacas--sort of an all-purpose "get things out of my body" chamber. Male releases sperm, they find their way into the female's oviduct and fertilize the pretty much finished
embryo; the female deposits what's needed for the eggshell and it's pushed out. No vagina because no penis. Or even hemipenis, like in snakes and reptiles.
