Yes. I've grown to the point that I don't want more suffering

Yes you can say they wanted it for others, but an eye for an eye just leaves the whole world blind. I'm not interested in punishing people because I don't think punishment alone works.

And it's not like just Trump supporters are finding out. For every instance of a Trump supporter getting deported, there's so many more who aren't Trump supporters. Same for people who will suffer from funding being cut, etc.

And then there's that when we get past this moment, if we want to rebuild America, our government, our society, that's only made more difficult if we get so invested in their suffering.

I get the appeal of wanting to see them suffer, but in my own life, my mental health got a lot better when I stopped holding on to wanting people who wronged me to suffer for it or even to acknowledge it. Instead I focused on myself, on making my own life better. The anger I held harmed me.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
