it's a free press, so it can.

Like if CBS doesn't want to have Colbert on CBS's platform, it's a free press, so it doesn't have to platform him.

You own the press, it's yours to be freely used by you. Rent it? Use it? Close it down? Your press.

Government stays out--they're all the same, free to be used. Can't ban speech, can't coerce speech.

Can sue for defamation--there limits to free speech, but they're fairly constrained.

3. I'm hopeful about HBO, too

They provided John Oliver a platform. Plus on independent media, Colbert can really cut loose. If he finds another home, I hope he's able to take that great band with him--and his writers.
