Michael Avenatti.

In case you don't recall, because of his role with Stormy Daniels, there were quite a few people here suggesting he should be our next presidential candidate.

Michelle Obama has been suggested for president and supreme court justice - when she has been pretty clear she is interested in neither

I don't even recall the others that keep popping up as the best option for our next XYZ candidate, solely because they are in the news or are good at what they are doing.

We have a history on DU of trying to put whoever is in the news on our side of the issues in line for the next political opening. That isn't to say that none of them are suitable, or that none of them are interested in the position. They may be. But suggesting that someone who is in the news in a positive way, but who has not expressed any interest in a particular role (or whose personality suggests he is more Trump-like than presidential) isn't the way to go about it.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
